This is a real flashy website, and just screams quality design.
The problem is the product range and price doesnt live up to the
style and professional feel of the site. If you want cheap books
go to Amazon, basically you should go to Amazon for any of the products
you can find at WHSmith. I will guarantee you will find it cheaper,
and with lower delivery (free for orders over £19). However
I do hope WHSmith preform better and with lower prices, because
i love their high street stores and flicking through their magazines
without buying :).

Of all the high street book shops WHSmith is the only one i've
found who is still selling books online and is competing with Amazon
still. I went to the Waterstones website and found it still redirects
to Amazon. I find it amazing that one of the biggest high street
names for books does not even try to compete. And it was the same
with Ottakars. I think the summery of this page is wrong, the WHSmith
site has frequently come tops for me in prices at a price comparison
site i've used. The prices are much more competitive than their
high street stores, and very often more competitive than anywhere
else online in the UK. Unfortunately i am still on a dial-up connection
and this site can be a nightmare to browse (especially at peak time).
The page and search load-up can take ages, and their pop-ups are
really annoying. Another area they are still playing catch-up with
Amazon is the delivery cost, it's still not cheap. I wish like Amazon.co.uk
and Blackstones.co.uk they offered free delivery at certain rates
of purchase. The delivery times are also slow. Competitive in prices
and certain areas, but it's far from being my first choice.
