Posted on n/a Volkswagen came to worldwide prominance with the release of the 'The Beetle - the best-selling car of all time, even overtaking the Volkswagen VW Model T'. In the last fifteen years Volkswagen have become one of the world's largest car manufacturers with the acquisition and re-development of famous names such as Audi, MAN, SEAT, Skoda, and Lamborghini. User Rating - ............................................................................. Posted on n/a My Phaeton will arrive in about 6 more weeks as I special ordered it. Currently it's taking about 12 weeks to get one delivered here in the USA. I got the V8 rather than the V12 (there is only so much of a sales job I can do on the wife and I was pushing it as it is) with all the options, four seater, dark green, with sand interior, power truck, keyless entry, etc. My wife thinks I'm crazy because I'm trading a Lexus LS 430 for a Volkswagon. I took out a Phaeton for a day and fell in love with it. If you are looking at buying a car in this class, I challange you to compare the Phaeton with it as I did. The 745 IL is way to "out there" for me. It was not even fun to drive and I had a 750IL back in the late 80's and thought it was the best car I've ever owned. I had an 2000 S-Type Jag with a V8 and only had problems with it. Build quality is just not there. Looked at and drove the new 2004 XJ and it's nice but again there was just something that did not feel "right" about it to me. Maybe it's because all the problems I had with the S-Type that kept haunting me. They need to update the body too because it doesn't look like a new Jag. The quality of the Benz has gone down lately and the S430 is way overated in my opinion. The E55 AMG is wonderful but I wanted a bigger car and the 600 is way more that I can afford. The Lexus LS 430 that I now drive is of very high qualilty, fit and trim is great, it's comfortable but it's BOARING to drive. It's just not a car that screems to be driven like the Phaeton does. I'll try and post again after I get the Phaeton and let you know how
I like it after a few weeks but I think I already know the answer. I'm
really excited about this car and it's keeping me up at night just thinking
about it. David Duty CTA, Gulf Breeze, FL USA User Rating - ............................................................................. Posted on n/a Question: My three lease on my company car - a Golf GTI TDi Anniversary expires very soon. As you may know there are only 900 in the country and I am wondering whether I should sell it for a profit. The car has done around 60,000 miles, and I was wondering what kind of price it would get? Answer: The Anniversary edition is much sort after, and was around £1100 more than a standard TDi GTi when new. It was also more powerful than the standard GTi in terms of bhp. The problem is that 900 isn't that low a number, so the car isn't that rare a thing. Trade guides only put a modest premium of £200 extra for the anniversary model. I would think you could hope to advertise for around £9,000 and hope to sell at around £8,750. User Rating - .............................................................................
