Anti virus software is responsible for detecting and deleting computer viruses. As anti virus software is advancing the features they offer are becoming very sophisticated. Firewall software released by companies like McAfee can also block hackers from attacking your PC and also allow you to update your anti virus software against the latest viruses unleashed on the Internet.

Norton Security Suite 2004
Oh how i hate this program, as a website designer i needed to buy this program for one stupid reason. It's bans portions of my site such as images for no good reason. Therefore i needed for testing purposes, which is expensive at £50 sadly. Ah well I concluded at least i would have the most professional security suite on the mass market. Sadly this wasn't the case either. The e-mail scanner was letting viruses through on a regular basis, but catching them latter as the e-mail client accessed the just-downloaded mail to display it. This always resulted in something crashing.
I tried disabling the e-mail scanning completely, but this still didnt work. The worst part was the The "live update" mechanism failed frequently. So i pay £50 and the program depriving me on a regaular basis of updating the software. It took me weeks before the updating finally worked. I did not subscribe again. I have found free programs much better than this. I use the Microsoft XP firewall now included free, and AVG free edition anti-virus software. So far i've had less problems.
