Description - Sweaters straddle a wide variety of designs, styles, materials and prices. Generally, they are a loose fitting garment, which makes them an easier item to buy online. They do not need to fit exactly, unlike footwear and closer fitting items like shirts.

A sweater, also referred to as a pullover/jumper in the UK, are similar to shirts, but use a relatively thicker material. The term 'sweater', is a catch all for many types of garment. Generally speaking, it's a garment that's intended to cover the torso, chest and arms. Traditionally, sweaters are made from wool, although synthetic fibers, like fleece, have attempted to improve on the breathability of wool. Garments made from cotton are usually referred to as sweatshirts, and hooded sweatshirts 'hoodies'. Sweaters without sleeves, are either referred to as vests, or tank tops. And sweaters which open in the front 'cardigans'. It's rare for a sweater to be tucked into a waist band, the customary way to wear a sweater is untucked. Whilst sweaters have traditionally been a bulky item of clothing, in recent decades they have tended to be made from finer wools and materials. This has led to sweaters becoming an alternative to a casual shirt.

Berghaus Spectrum Gilet Ia Fleece

Berghaus are one of the preeminent manufacturers of adventure clothing, including polar fleece goodies. Their 'Spectrum' range of fleece tops and body warmers do an excellent job of keeping you really warm and exceedingly comfortable. Most people assume good outdoor clothing is expensive, it need not be, for example, my Spectrum body warmer cost me twenty five pounds. For summer months you'll only need the fleece, but for winter months, if you combine the fleece with a gortex coat, then you'll have the ideal combination for any nasty conditions.

The top itself uses Berghaus's new AWL 200 polar fleece fabric. Another important feature for any good outdoor clothing is a close fitting zip, because this is a notoriously easy place for a little draught of wind to enter. The 'Spectrum' now comes with a full length 'InterActive' zip, the zip not only protects you from any chill winds, but allows the fleece to be zipped into a selection of Berghaus outer shell jackets and coats. There is even a craftily concealed 'InterActive' attachment point at the back of the neck. This again help to ward off any enter points for cold air.

The neck itself it very snug, and reaches up to the bottom of your head. Protecting your back and neck from becoming another entry point for cold air. Finally, you have a couple of pockets, which make for ideal hand warmers, and a draw cord at the hem, which is elasticated, and helps tighten the fleece around your torso. The fleece weighs around three hundred grams in total. Overall, I cannot recommend this item enough, do not have second thoughts about out laying twenty five pounds for it.
