1887 Foundation of the camera manufacturing Richard Hüttig in Dresden. Praktica is a a german based company who make cost effective cameras and binoculars and have for over 50 years been at the cutting edge of image creation and photography. In 1996 PRAKTICA Color Scan - the beginning of a new generation of scanner cameras and digital printing plate expore based on laser technology - both shown at the Photokina. In 2001 the start of series production of a new scanner generation called Scan 3000 based on a fast Fire Wire interface.

3.1 mega pixels, 4x digital zoom, stylish silver metal body, 2 inch colour monitor to view your picture, 16 MB of internal memory, and it's also expandable with an SD card. It's a perfect back-up for my Nikons. At just £100 it can't be bad for a camera from one of my favourite leading manufacturers. I love it's compact size, with it producing excellent photographs that are easily enlarged. At this price range I think 3 mega pixels is a fair resolution, with the quality of images being outstanding. When I have enlarged for A4 printing they still come out with excellent detail. I am not always that sure about the colour definition on some of my photos, but again considering the cameras price, overall the picture quality is very good. If you're a camera novice then it's also an easy camera to begin with, but there is also enough features for you to play with. It's certainly kept me occupied a day out snapping. it provides both value for money and excellent quality.
