Were Founded

Pentax is a brand name that was created and registered by the Asahi Optical Company of Japan in the late 1950's. The name was originally intended for use with it's photographic cameras and is derived from a combination of the words PENTAprism and refleX in recognition of Asahi Optical Co. being the first manufacturer to incorporate a pentaprism viewfinder and reflex mirror system into a camera.

Pentax Optio S

The Pentax Optio S is one of the smallest and lightest cameras I could find online, because I needed something light weight for my holiday to America. It has a lot of features, which I won't list but in short it's got 3.2 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 1.6inch LCD screen, voice recorder and a movie mode. There are 7 modes for taking pictures which is Landscape, Flower, Portrait, Self-Portrait, Surf & Snow, Autumn Color and Sunset. The camera body is made of a brushed aluminum alloy and this makes it fell light but solid. One complaint is the battery doesn't last very long, so you don't get many hours of picture taking from it. I highly recommend purchasing one of these. It's an absolute marvel how much technology can be packed into the Pentax Optio S.
