Paul Smith's has indicated that his introduction into fashion was completely accidental. He was aged eighteen years, and like many teenagers without qualifications or career intentions. Luckily his decided to take him off to the local clothing warehouse. Here he was employed as what he describes as 'a gofer'. But he said this was where his interest in clothing and fashion developed. By the time he was twenty Paul Smith was managing the first boutique in his native Nottingham, and in 1970 opened a small shop. By the 1990's Paul Smith had established himself as one of the leading British designer.
Latest News
In February 2001 Paul Smith was awarded a Knighthood by HRH The Queen in the Birthday Honors List, in recognition of his services to the British Fashion Industry.
