Can also be called a skillet. They are typically 8 to 12 inch diameter
with a flat pan and flared sides and with no lid. Frying pans come
in many forms, but prehaps the best are cast-iron frying pans. The
reason being that they are an ideal heat conductor, because cast
iron heats evenly and consistently. They are also inexpensive and
can last a lifetime if you keep them with proper care. Once a cast
iron pan has been used for a certain period of time they should
become naturally stick resistant and require no additional oil.
Some other materials that frying pans come in are,
-
Aluminum
-
Cast iron
-
Copper
-
Enameled cast iron
-
Stainless steel
Recently some pans have come with a teflon coating to the surface
of the pan to make it non-stick. One of the advantages of aluminum
and stainless steel pans is they generally require little maintenance,
whereas copper pans require polishing to remove any tarnish.
