What are File Sharing Programs

You may have heard recently in the press about file sharing programs on the Internet. File sharing programs allow computer to share files (music, images, movies) and information over the Internet or Networks. The first program to raise the profile of file sharing programs was Napster which was created in 1999 by Shawn Fanning, a Northeastern University undergraduate, who wrote Napster as a small MP3-sharing application. Other popular file sharing programs are BearShare, Limeware, Kazaa and Gnutella.
