Models - Fiat Multipla JTD
A beautifully designed and quirky vehicle, the Multipla may
look strange on the outside but the interior is roomy and
comfortable with many thoughtful additions, like the underfloor
storage compartments in the rear and seats that can be folded
up and their back used as a useful table with \'cuppies\'
built in to them as well as the gear shift being placed in
the most sensible place imaginable - right next to your hand!
The mpg is awesome on the diesel, ranging from 40-46 depending
on the the length and type of journey. It is easy to drive
and the width is not sufficiently excessive to cause problems
with driving or parking.
The downsize has been expense. My 2000 model needed two new
front tyres, within 18 months. This was followed by the fuel
limiter going west, which required a replacement. Then the
drive belt was thrown off on two occasions. This was due to
the tensioner being worn and mis-shaped so it damaged the
belt. The tensioner had to be replaced. Recently, steering
fluid was leaking (or rather pouring) from the vehicle. Originally
the mechanic though it was a pipe but it turned out that the
whole steering fluid assembly had to be replaced as it was
faulty.
I love the Multipla - it should be such a wonderful vehicle.
However, the cost of this new vehicle has been considerable
and must be the result of either substandard parts or substandard
assembly or a combination of both. It is the first Fiat I
have purchased and is likely to be the last and yet the Multipla
is the best designed vehicle I have ever owned.

Model - Fiat Panda Dynamic
Having test driven most of the "small" cars on
offer I finally decided on the new Car of the Year - Fiat
Panda. Only had it since end of March but so far so good.
It's a dream to drive, easy to handle - the City button makes
parking and nipping around a doddle and the new style gear
stick on the dash is so easy to use. This model is the 1.2
and has 4 doors. I picked the Sparkling Blue colour to blend
in with the blue seats and it looks well. The boot is roomy
enough too and it certainly feels like a luxurious little
car. Ideal for City travel and nippy on the roads and motorways
- although not having reached the 500 mile mark yet, I am
gently breaking
it in. Only filled up the fuel tank twice in total so far
too.
This model has the CD player and various bits and pieces
(cupholders) oh...and the TRIP computer!! Be careful - this
is positioned where the window washers were on my old Corsa,
and having pressed it by mistake, spent a few days wondering
why the digital mileage was going bannanas (Wow a car that
takes you back in time!). Luckily it comes with a good easy
to follow manual - so I could re-set the button myself!.
The funniest thing was on the way to work one morning I followed
an Old Panda model and since there are not many of use on
the road as yet, it's cool to see another one...there was
one driving along side me, on the motorway, same colour -
and us drivers saluted each other....
Let's start the new Panda Club! If anybody has any doubts
about which new car to buy - I can thoroughly recommend it.
Well done to Fiat. 5 Stars - The Best

To put it simply, its the WORST car I have ever had. I am
currently on my third set of tyres from buying the car new.
Now this set is worn to the inner cores and the car has only
done 16000 miles!!
I have gone thru :-
1) 1 Main computer
2) 1 Air conditioning unit
3) Back door occasionally doesnt open
4) A multitude of warning lights flash every week
5) Rattling behind the front console
6) Rattling from the rear suspension
7) CD compartment door fell off (Complete front dash had to
be removed
to fix this)
8) 3 sets of tyres
9) Drivers door lock became loose
Fiat innitially tried hard to fix the problems but now seem
to have washed their hands of it. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!

Can't really fault the car. It's 18 months old now, has done
45000 trouble free miles and is running sweet as a nut touch
wood. I get it independently serviced with an oil/filter change
every 6000miles.
I easily get 600 miles plus out a tank and have on occaison
still got 400 when pulling the caravan.
I haven't had the problems with tyres, I fitted a new set
of Dunlops to the front at 28000miles.
They are now neading replaced as a set so no harm to them.
Pulls my 1400kg caravan with ease although I would say the
rear suspension is a bit soft when towing and can easily bottom
out.
I get round this removing the jockey wheel when towing. The
only problem I have had was with the Air conditioning. It wasn't
cooling as it used to, this had been a long process. Again
independently diagnosed as a manufacturing fault in the construction
of the body of the condenser itself (small fracture allowing
the coolant to escape) it was replaced under warranty with
no quibbles.
The supplying dealer carried out the work a few weeks ago
and all is now working fine.
The only critisism I have is the pricing of franchised dealers. They
are a complete rip off and while the general motoring British
Public continue to follow each other like lemmons of a cliff
into the black hole that is the cost of their servicing they
the franchised dealers will continue to overcharge and line
their pockets with our hard earned and in most cases all to
easliy parted with cash!

Got Fiat Stilo been back in 6 times to dealer for inoperative
Air Conditioning, Creaking Rear Axle, and Squeaking Clutch
Pedal.
Last Night (30/05/2005) Got "Airbag Failure Switch off
Engine" Message. I rang Fiat Assistance, explained the
fault, and technical advisor advised me that they have had
a technical bulletin from Fiat to confirm any vehicle displaying
this fault should be recovered to a fIat Main Dealer, and
should not be driven.
Car was towed in last night, i rang dealer (Fiat In Leeds)
at 8.00am this morning, and phone constantly engaged, or i
was placed on hold in queue. After 2 hours, of ringing i eventually
managed to get through, to be told yes car was there but dont
expect it to be looked at until at least tomorrow, and despite
me having no transport, i was advised that if needed a loan
car i would have to book at least 2 weeks in advance!!!
I rang up this afternoon, and 20 minutes later i managed
to get through, to be told they might look at car tommorrow,
and they were not aware on any airbag fault, and they advised
me that any reapirs to the wiring or airbag would not be covered
under warranty!!!
Nice car just let down by niggles, and poor dealers!!

Wow! This is a very good car. I have done 24k in 8 months.
Fuel economy 55 mpg. No problems at all with the car or dealer.
I can highly recommend this car over the normal boring german
makes. No I don't work for Fiat, I am just a very satisfied
customer!

Car is first class, all extras, masses of room, comfortable,
except I have a problem with the automatic gearbox & no
one seems to know anything about them. FIAT dealers &
service centres haven't a clue & can only suggest replacement.
Mechanics tell me they don\'t know because they
can't get the info.
I cannot get any information, manual, breakdown of gearbox
parts or how it functions.
If FIAT CAN'T REPAIR THE B\'xxxxY THINGS THEN I SUGGEST YOU
BUY A DIFFERENT MAKE.
A lovely little car spoilt by complete lack of interest or
backup by the Company. Their agents anyway although I can
find nothing on the Net from Fiat to make me think that the
Company has any interest in it's customers either. It will
take a lot to convince me to consider buying another Fiat.

Tyre blow out caused by tracking and a faulty suspension
coil which ripped into tyre. sticky gearbox (manual), however,
good engine and ignoring the above a pleasure to drive.

I bought my car last year October and I have done 40 000km.
I took it to the garage last year complaining about the clutch
pedal which was too hard and it used to smell bad. The dealer
told me that the reason why it is hard it is because it is
still new. Right now my car is parked in the garage and the
warranty doesn't cover the clucth kit.

Bought car in jan 2004 and today it is in the garage getting it's
4th set of tyres put on the car has only just done 30,000 miles
so obviously i have been to fiat dealer after care who are just
not interested and want me to pay for a wheel alignment!!!!!!!!
DO NOT BUY THIS CAR if we had chance we would sell and get another
make entirely.
