Hugo Boss was first established in Metzingen, Germany, in 1923. This
was a tough period in German history, with the country in a state of
economic ruin. Forward to WW2, and Hugo Boss was commissioned to design
and manufacture uniforms and attire for the troops, officers of the
Nazi in Germany. Therefore it is only in recent times that the company
has become well known for it's designer ranges. Recently in 1993, Hugo
Boss launched its first fragrance, and created a division which has
since grown to be an important part of the company, and it's Boss Black
brand in 1999.
