Berghaus were formed by Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison who are climbers and mountaineers from the North East of England. Since the start of Berghaus in 1966, Berghaus has built on its reputation for being at the forefront of outdoor performance technology and continues to make the best outdoor clothing.

Berghaus Arete Backpack
My husband bought our still serviceable Berhaus pack in 1984/85. We then immediately used it for a 7 month packpacking trip around North America. Over the following 9 years we used it about 2 or 3 times a year. During the last 14 years we've used it at least once a week as well as 2 or 3 times a year using it for 2, 3 or 4 week trips to all parts of the world - Asia, Sth America, North America, Australia, Europe and the UK.
So it's had lots of use and is still going strong. The only problem that we've had so far is that the fabric on one of the side pockets if slightly weakened where we once spilled bleach on it some 8 or so years ago and even so the fabric has still not worn through. Top marks for a top product Berghaus!
And here's to another 20 years of packpacking!
