Baby & child car seats are an essential safety item. The seats
can be rearward or forward facing and should include basics like
an;
- integral harness
- one pull harness
- recline feature
- child seat that can convert to a booster seat.
Basic guide for car seats at the various ages;
Children under 3 years old
If placed in the front seat, a child restraint must be used. Not
just the adult seat belt. Against the law otherwise.
Child Aged 3 to 11 (under around 5 feet)
A child restraint feaure must be worn if available. Otherwise
the adult seat belt must be worn.
Currently the best advice when buying a baby/child seat is to make
sure it meets the United Nations standard Regulation 44.03. This
means look for the 'E' mark when buying.
