 Facts

Asics were formed in Kobe, Japan just after the second World War in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka. In the 1960's and 70's Asics shoes underwent various structural and aesthetic changes that can still be seen in todays designs. Recently Asics has developed the ASICS™ GEL™ Cushioning System for their sports shoes and has become a technological leader in the sportswear industry. Asics continues to make great sports footwear and clothing and is still seen as one of the world leading sportswear manufacturers.

Asics Scudetto

The best part about the Asics Scudetto screw-In football boot was the price, I managed to buy these at over half the retail price. The sale price at M and M Sports listed at this site was £29.99, with the retail price being £89.99 and this making a saving of £60.00. Sixty quid off is quite amazing and I will shopping on the Internet exclusively if this is the prices I can buy at. The actual boots fit well and after playing a few games are much better than Nike pair. But then again a pair of football boots worth £89.99 are going to be good, if you pay that. So long high street :).

Asics XL

I rate these as a 5. They have lasted two years of running and weight-training though one pair did split and run at the back after two weeks. They are cool and comfortable and for us 45 year old weight-trainers they are ideal. I have a 40 inch waist and the XL fits fine but the Ron Hill XL does not. Now the bad news: every shop in Cardiff including Argos does not stock XL Asics only a huge range of lined pants which are useless in the summer when you are training and perspiring heavily. I cannot find an unlined nylon pant of this design anywhere. Asics need to do a little more promotion.

Summary of Asics
Asics are probably best known for their running trainers. They make their trainers specifically for athletics, and unlike other sporting brands they do not really make trainers as a fashion accessory.
