I received a leaflet in my Sunday paper for Worldbooks and
decided to give them a try. I was in need of a new hobby,
and reading seemed a stress free one. I have never joined
a book clubs before so was unsure of what to expect. Being
a member of the BCA (British Club Associates) reassured me
a little and the sign-up offer tempted me, they gave you any
six book you wanted for less than £1.00 each. Bare in
mind these are hard back books and are each worth substantially
more. There leaflet catalogue shows the rrp and the amount
you are saving with them. Of course you need to meet some
requirements to apply for this offer, notable you need agreed
to purchase at least four books in the year of sign-up. If
you fail to meet this agreement then your going to be charged
the full price of the books you ordered at the introduction
offer. By using the order form with the leaflet the ordering
process was easy with free postage, & £1.00 for
each of the hard back books. After this however the postage
and packaging was much higher at £3.99. I generally
like the idea of the book club, but Worldbooks seemed a little
slow in delivery. And I guess the minimum book order will
put off some people, the four books you order are full rrp
and therefore you could find them cheaper at other bookshops.
I also didn't like the amount of junk mail you receive from
them once you have signed up. Canceling the editors
choice each month is also a major pain as well, it seems like
a scam to get you to buy more books. Overall I am happy with
my full book shelf and the overall price I paid.
