If you only like buying the odd glass or two then Virgin
Wines is not the site for you. It mainly caters for those
buying cases of wine, but as I am a wine loser I get really
good value for money buying cases. I love my wine but I am
no expert, I often have a tough job picking the right bottle
off the supermarket or off license shelf - and I am often
disappointed by my choice. With Virgin Wines it's all been
done for you, I just relay on their experts advice of picking
the right bottles.
As you would expect from a company from Richard Branson they
do their best to debunk wine snobbery and their sites gives
you easy to understand descriptions of the wines. My last
purchase was a case of Aussie red for a BBQ part I was hosting.
Hot. The site recommended it as ideal for a BBQ, with bottles
like Rochecombe Tasmanian Pinot Noir 2005 and Two Blues Limestone
Coast Fleurieu Shiraz 2003 being two of favourites included
in the case. Come the day and the great British whether it
was downpour and all was canceled. I was only mildly miffed
knowing I'd have the wine to myself lol.
Another nice site feature is that the wines all include an
Average Customer Rating, and with over 1364 ratings on some
wines it's a conclusive poll.
They have a price promise also, where they give money back
if you find the wine cheaper elsewhere. I have usually ordered
over the phone to receive extra advice and because I like
the personal touch.
Cases start around £50 with delivery about £5.99.
They have usually delivered by 2 working days and no longer
than 3 or 4. The wine has always been well packaged.
