Owned by the entrepreneur Richard Branson, Virgin Megastore
is a good store for vinyls, cd's, video's, dvd's and entertainment
magazines. The high street stores are well laid out with an
alphabetical system. They have all the different music genres
like hip hop, dance, garage, R&B, chart music, Classical,
Soul, Rap, Country and Western. They seems to go head to head
with HMV in most town centres, with Virgin having a more "interlectual"
and "student" feel about it. The standard of service
is always excellent, they employ staff who are knowledgeable
about the products, and know the whereabouts and cost of any
item you ask them about. The only downside is that most titles
are a little on the pricey side, you do pay for the quality
stores and staff. But at least the selection is truly huge,
and by far the most comprehensive that I have seen in my local
city centre (the HMV store is on the small side, and is no
cheaper). You can find the odd bargain and special deal, but
on the whole you will pay a little extra than from Tesco or
Asda. But as the staff are so friendly and courteous I still
find it a real pleasure to give my business to them.
