Gianni Versace was born in Reggio Calabria on December 2 1946. He founded the Versace company in 1978, that is now one of the world's leading international fashion houses. The Italian parent company designs, clothing, accessories, fragrances, makeup and home furnishings under the various brands of the Versace Group. These brands include:

- Jeans Couture
- Classic V2
- Sport
- Intensive
- Young
- Palazzo Versac
In the 1990's Gianni Versace had moved to Miami Beach in Florida. He lived at 1116 Ocean Drive, and sadly this was where he was shot to death on his front steps by Andrew Cunanan. Present day the company is currently headed by Donatella Versace.
