Valentino is the fashion house created by Valentino Garavani. He was born on May 11, 1932, in the small town of Voghera, Italy. He learnt his trade at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris. His first apprentice jobs were with both Jean Desses and Jacqueline de Ribes. He started the fashion house Valentino in Rome at the beginning of the 1960s. After this he displayed his first show in 1962, and became world famous by1967. Because this was the year he premiered the 'White Collection', with massively successful "V" logo. He is most probably most famous for designing Jacqueline Kennedy wedding dress (albeit it with the Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis, and not JFK). He he also had notable friendships with Steve Rubell and Andy Warhol. Valentino received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2000 American Designer Awards in New York.
