There had been rumblings in the press and newspapers in the late 2002 that Umbro had been in financial problems and could fold. One rumour was that Manchester United football club may actually buy Umbro (who made their shirts at that time). As of yet we have not had any further information to confirm whether these rumours are true about Umbro UK. However Umbro still seem to making and selling a range of trainers, shoes, sports tracksuits for running and t-shirts for both sports or just as a fashion accessory. Umbro products have always been made to a high standard and umbro football shirts and boots / shoes have always equaled that of brands such as Nike and Adidas. There was a time in the early 1990's when Umbro used to make sports trainers, boots, shoes and tracksuits for a large amount of the top premier league football teams such as Sheffield Wednesday, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City. It now seems to be restricted to Chelsea.

Umbro Xai III FG Football Boots

What caught my eye with these boots was the looks, they look really stylish and cool. After trying them on they were also comfortable and great for kicking a football on my maidan Xai III match. I would have to rate them as the best boots I've ever had, and have really improved my performance on the pitch. They seem ideal for the attacking winger who spends a good deal of time running down the flank with the ball. The only problem i've had is putting them on, it's a challenge to say the least, otherwise a top pair of boots.

Umbro Gent's LCD Mens Sports Watch

I got my Umbro Gent's LCD watch mainly due to the price, it was even cheaper than the Casio low end models. I've owned it now for about 3 years now and it's been easy to use for a sports watch and worked without fault. As a watch designed for sports it's light weight and this is it's big plus, the only downer being that the markings and face have faded a bit, and the watch is looking a little tatty. The timer can be a little fiddly to master, but it soon becomes easy to set and stop. I am a big sports fan so I have used this watch to swim in, play football, tennis, cricket, squash and play a few other sports. It's still working as good as new, and it's only the appearance which have degraded a little. I am sure there are far worse sports watches to pick up.

Umbro currently are famous for their sports equipment and make football kits for top sports teams such as Chelsea in England, and Celtic in Scotland. Umbro also make sports clothing and trainers as just a fashion statement, and you can find Umbro rucksacks, tracksuits, socks, shorts, t-shirts and more. Umbro UK currently have a web site online but it doesn't seem to contain any content (5/5/03).
