Trade associations and regulators

Trade associations and utility regulators are another avenue to consider when aiming to solve a dispute with a trader/ogranisation, or, you simple wish to file a complaint.

Trade associations

There is usually a trade association for every conceivable business sector you can think of. Far too many to list on this page. For a comprehensive list, visit the web address provided below,

If the business you wish to complain about is within a trade association, then you can file a complaint to that association. A trade association should have a code of practice for it's traders. If your complaint shows a trader has breached the CoP, they may be more compliant in resolving the complaint, failure to do so may result in their removal from their association.

Utility regulators

There is a utility regulator for each of the following industries,

Regulators, as the name would suggest, regulate their chosen industry to ensure a fair and honest practice for UK consumers. Their role could also be likened to that of a watchdog. Therefore, it is within their remit to investigate complaints and solve disputes.
