I have been a customer of Tiscali for nearly two years now. All was working
perfectly fine until suddenly the collapsed and I couldn't access the web. It
was then I realised why Tiscali are cheaper than most of their competitors, their
customer service sucks. I phoned Tiscali using their customer support line posted
on their website, never anywhere did it state I would be waiting for over 30 minutes
and of course then be patched through to somewhere in India or Taiwan etc. The
problem with being connected to such a distance is the quality of the phoneline,
it's all crackily, delayed and you can't understand a thing said. The voice on
the other end is so faint, and as English isn't probably their first language
not as clear as you would like. Well I went on repeating the problem for about
twenty times to different people of their customer and tech support about 10 times.
They didn't have a clue how to sort it out and in the end said they would phone
me back. Well I got the phone call after a few hours of sitting by the phone and
they finally stated it was a server fault and I be connected back to the Tiscali
service within 48 hours. And you can guess what happened next can't you, I waited
the 48 hours and I still could not connect to service. They had fobbed me off
with any old excuse just to get rid of me. This time I was really pissed off and
phoned the tech support jerks again. This time it was a 45 minute wait listening
to some horrible din which makes you feel sick after a while, and of course that
stupid American mechanized voice telling you that 'staff are busy drinking coffee
and eating doughnuts' and please hold to be fobbed off with more excuses. Well
this time the problem they said was a billing problem and that I owed them over
£100. Apparently I had upgraded my package somewhere down the line and haven't
paid the increase. Well eventually after speaking with 4 or 5 support staff I
sorted out the billing prob. I did get my service back but the customer support
was awful. Why I had to wait 48 hours over a false reason I will never know. I
am changing from Tiscali to AOL or someone more reliable as soon as I can. I do
not really blame the tech support people in India, yes I couldn't hear them well
due to a poor phone line but least they were friendly when I got through to them.
They are just doing their job with the poor tools provided them. The blame lays
squarely at the management of Tiscali, they need UK support staff for UK customers.
Surely it would help the organisation of a company to have the support staff in
the same building as the rest of the company, not halfway across the world to
save money and make Tiscali top brass a few more quid. The ineptitude of Tiscali
was astounding, avoid these guys at all cost. User - n/a User
Rating - I used to work for Tiscali,
and actually left them due to the unreliablity of there product and the 'no care'
attitude that they take on. They only in it to get you caught for the 12 months
and then dont care! Would not recommend them! User - Justin User

User Rating - I have
had deadful service since they did work in the local exchange last year to supposedly
give me better performance. Firstly over a period of 3 weeks with no internet
access they fobbed me off with one excuse after another, sent a new modem with
the wrong software, then finally sent the correct software. I wrote to their Chief
Executive and got a load of tosh from their next layer of "customer support"
who said thei CEO was too busy to comment on letters sent to them - I reminded
them who was the customer but I might just as well have been talking to a parrot
repeating the same answer time after time. Now after a few months of reasonable
service I am getting cut off when the phone rings and loads of crackles on the
phones. I have again rung them and needless to say they didn't bother to ring
back as they said they would - what a rubbish organisation. I am going to change
to BT as soon as I can, who I have had recommended to me by friends and family
who have had excell ent service from them with faults being dealt with quickly
and efficiently. As your other reviewer says - Tiscali suck................
