Apparently out of every £8 spent on the UK high street
£1 is spent at Tesco's. And not hard to see why, they
have the best choice and the lowest prices. So I looked forward
to browsing the Tesco website, but was disappointed. The site
is framed which makes navigation not great, and the prices
for electronics, movies and cd's can be beaten by Amazon and
other online retailers. The food section is also not easy
to navigate and I gave up. I had planned on using he service
but it was easy to browse. I daresay when you have a shopping
list of items saved it's much easily. But I have read of complaints
of old stock and the wrong items coming. Overall it's a bit
of a let down from the premier UK retailer. I was expecting
a little more.

I purchased my copy of Sex and the City - The Complete Series
from the tesco online web store. I have to go on record and
say I was disappointed with the season six dvd collection
being split into two parts. I have no idea why HBO would do
such a thing, except of course it will make them money :).
All that seems to happen is they release a collector's edition
later in the year, so I decided to wait and it happened like
expected. To buy this box set of all their episodes I think
you must be a If you die-hard fan/collector of all things
Sex and the City, if you are only a casual viewer of the show,
I think it's probably not the best buy you could make. I just
love this show and the main characters Charlotte, Samantha,
Miranda and Carrie.

Don't be fooled in thinking that buying your food from Tesco
using their grocery service will save you time (well at least
on the first attempt). This process was easy to do, and if
you are familiar with using websites the links are clear from
the registration page to the home page. But the shear volume
of products to choose from is bewildering, and the time it
takes to pick the correct product is much longer than in-store.
But things improved on my second shopping attempt, because
I soon discovered all my information was saved on my account.
Therefore I could just press buy and it would be done with
seconds. Of course you always want to add and subtract a few
items each week. Delivery is a disappointment because it varies
between £3.99 and £5.99 depending on the time
slot. At peak times this is the higher rate, Mondays usually
the lower. But considering I always order over £100
I want it to be free, they save money on staff and store heating
etc. As I live less than a mile away from my local store it
could really be lower for me. Another gripe is when you order
say 12 can of fosters beer, they sometimes give you 12 cans
of carling. And I am sure they give you meat and processed
food closer to the use by date. Overall I think I will be
returning to shop in-store, yes it can save time if your lazy
after the first list is created, but still there are too many
drawbacks currently.

With reference to the Tesco store in Wells, Somerset.
I shop there daily using a basket and was amazed at 14:30pm to
find no till specific to baskets open.
When I enquired why this was I was informed that basket tills will
now only be open from 5 to 6pm daily.
When I asked why I was informed that now the store has self serve
check outs people can use those.
IF I wanted to become a supermarket checkout person I would have
made that career choice many years ago when Tesco's share option
to team members were very lucrative.
I will of course attempt only to visit the store between 5 and
6pm to get served and not have to wait in a queue behind trolley
shoppers, perhaps a better alternative is to use an alternative
store which still supplies a service to people who use baskets who
do not penalise their customers or impose times on them to shop.
I would also suggest that the Tesco Wells store also informs customers
of new policies in writing somewhere in the store so that customers
like myself know exactly what time to shop and get service from
the store.
It's a ridiculous new policy, I believe, in an attempt by Tescos
to coerce people into using the new self service tills.
