The company was first founded as 'Fratelli Prada' which translated means ("Prada Brothers"). the year it was founded was in 1913 by the brother Mario Prada. During the reign of the borthers the company never earned International fame. Not until 1978, when Mario's granddaughter Miuccia Prada inherited the company did this occur. As this point Prada was still a leather goods business, but Miuccia wanted to take it into haute couture. By 1985 the line of sleek handbags made by Prada were quickly becoming widely sought-after, and spawned a global industry of counterfeit Prada goods, and by 1990 the companies modern designs had fueled a sharp rise in Prada's popularity. This lead to Prada wining the 'Council of Fashion Designers of America International Award' for accessories in 1993.

Prada shoes are so comfortable, they have that formal look so they are ideal for work and for casual smart wear. I was reading in my local newspaper how Prada should make some inexpensive shoes for children that can't afford to buy them. People are getting mugged on a regular basis for their Prada shoes, so maybe Prada need to release a low price line of shoes. They could name them Prada 3C or something. And this would help separate the two brands like Old Navy and Gap.
