Posted on 04 / 01 / 2006 I've only used Morgan Stanley for their Platinum credit card. I signed up with them a couple of years ago when I received an unsolicited mail about the card. The main attraction was the cashback bonus scheme. The leaflet included an application form and I completed it and posted it back to them. It took around 2 weeks later to receive notification I was accepted, and to have my new platinum card. I use my credit cards quite alot, so as I moved all my spending to Morgan Stanley I soon started accumulating my cashback. The deal is that you earn 0.5% for the first £2000 spent in a year and after this amount it raises to 1% of the total. Sadly after 2003 I think they switched this around to 1% for the first £2000 and 0.5% after that. As I spend at least £10,000 per year on my card this was a massive disappointment. I do always make sure I pay the full balance every month by direct debit because the current rate on purchases is 14.9%. Of course if your a new customer there will be frequently reduced APR offers to attract you. In my experience just make sure you meet at least meet the minimum payment amount, and you should be OK. In summary, Morgan Stanley has impressed me, the cashback rewards are still a good incentive and Ive never experienced any problems with the company so far. Posted on 02 / 03 / 2005 It's a simple scheme, you spend as much cash as you want with the card and they reward you with a cheque based on a percentage of the amount you have spent. My card was once refused at a high street shop, I phoned Morgan Stanley about this and not only did they apologize, but also sent me a box of chocolates as a gift to cover the embarrassment of the situation. I can't think of many other companies and especially banks which would do this. The service is simply exemplary.
