bought PC component's from Micro Direct for several years now. The sole reason
being you get more bang for your buck. They sell all the good quality brand name
stock but at knock down prices. You can find just about any component like cooling
fans and graphics cards, digital cameras, scanners, and various other bits and
pieces like cables and screws. I have only once come across a delivery problem,
but I soon got on the phone and it was dealt with quickly and cheerfully. The
company hasn't been around for years and years like PC World, but long enough
to be reliable and trust worthy. User - Michael Rhodes Posted
on 12 / 05 / 2006 User Rating - Because
my computer had been knocking on deaths door for months I decided to see
if I could upgrade it. I emailed Micro Direct with my system specs but basically
they said the technology had moved on and it just wasn't possible to upgrade it
now. I therefore forgot about upgrading my machine until I started to get multiple
error messages last week, I then decided it was time for a new PC. I first set
off for PC world on the outskirts of Derby, but nothing really caught my eye and
what did I would need a second mortgage for. I went home and decided on building
my own PC, as Micro Direct had replied to my email I checked them out again. Their
prices seemed as competitive as any retailer out there, I soon picked a system
of component's for a good price. I emailed Micro Direct again and they stated
the setup would be compatible. Delivery was a little slow however, but apart from
that everything went off without a hitch. User - M. Robinson

TRADERS As per other writers (see Kelkoo.co.uk) - Micro Direct are happy
to take your money, but not refund your cash for faulty goods. I purchased
£75.00 of faulty memory that caused system crashes and loss of data for
over 12 months before I located the problem with the matched pairs PC3200 GEIL
memory modules they sold me. After 4 months of haggling they agreed to replace
the memory with 'like for like' (even though I had already needed to replace it
by then) They took back the memory, tested it and agreed it was faulty,
but after 2 months stated the same memory was no longer in production (although
it was still in their online catalogue) and offered me a single module memory
in replacement worth £20.00, which I refused as it was incompatible to my
system - they sent it to me anyway, and over 4 more months refused to give me
a refund or similar replacement (matched pairs of modules) only a much cheaper
option of 2 x single modules (worth less than half of what I spent). Shop
at Aria.co.uk instead for better prices and customer care - don't risk being ripped
off by a company that bucks hard at honouring it statutory, legal or trading standards
obligations. You only find out how good a company is, when things go wrong.
