We recently signed up with Legal & General for our home contents insurance and couldn't be happier. We first tried out bank Barclays but after browsing around Legal & General had a much better deal. We signed up with them and they are very quick and ensure everything is followed through correctly with the paperwork. I have never had to claim on home contents insurance before, but a work colleague said they were easy to deal with as long as you are honest. She claimed when her combi malfunctioned and damaged the walls in the upstairs bathroom floors and all her electric's. It was quite a big job because the ceilings needed replacing and a new kitchen, carpets and laminate was needed. But she said they were friendly, easy to deal with on the claimline and quick to payout on her claim. She said the overall quote came to something over £8000 so it was a big claim. I guess she was very lucky to be with a company with good service and a rapid response. They also put her and her family up in a hotel for two nights while it all got sorted as well. Basically she said she was shocked how smoothly everything went, she really expected a battle on her hands like with most insurance claims. Like I have found with L&G it's very nice to have staff which are pleasant and polite - and that phone back when they say they will. The fact is that Legal & General are a big company, they have been around for a long time and you really would expect they should know what they are doing. Both the recommendation from my work colleague and the much improved price over Barclays made it an easy choice to go with L&G.
