I took advantage of their free two week trial to see how
it all works, then as a fully fledged member of Lovefilm it
was time to choose from four different packages, with the
price ranging from £9.99 - £19.99. The more expensive
the fee per month the more dvd's you are allowed to rent.
It is a real benefit that there are no late fees and no due
date from returning the dvd's. But of course if you do not
return the dvd you cannot start renting another one. So it's
always best to return them asap so you can pick another title
and benefit fully from your monthly fee. To sum up how the
two week free trial went, first off I registered all my personal
details like my credit/debit card detail's (do not worry however,
they take no payment unless you sign-up after the free trial
expires). I then after registering received all the necessary
emails that confirmed my details and the details of the date
of my free trial. What you must do is press the cancel membership
in your section of Lovefilm because the trial end and then
there will not be any charges. There is a limit of six rentals
in the two week trial, but I felt this was generous enough
for myself to get a good feel of the service. It not been
two months since I first signed up for the free trial, and
I've been happy with the quality of service. Lovefilm still
email me when they dispatch a Dvd, they always come in a hefty
padded envelope and in good condition. Then it's a simple
process of resealing the envelope and posting it back. As
the post box is just around the corner from my home it's real
simple. The only disadvantage over conventional rental services
is the waiting period, while they post the dvd to you. This
is especially noticeable on the weekend (sundays) when you
most feel like renting a film, but will not receive until
early the next week. Apart from the rental service itself
the lovefilm website is basic, they have included a few extras
like film quizzes, a few reviews of the latest movies and
the occasional special offer. But it not the kind of site
with a community of users, it's something you use quickly
and effortlessly, and I am sure it' been designed with this
in mind. I would definitely recommend the service if your
a real film buff, but the constant posting and receiving of
dvd's may not be everyone's cup of tea.
