Great looking website which is very easy to use, and once
you phone them up they are incredible helpful. Overall, I've
found my current account with Intelligent Finance to be a
good account which has no-frills. I offset my account against
my mortgage so it took a few weeks to sort out all the paperwork.
The only bad points I've found are the charges on transactions
outside the UK, and
their no-frills service means no services like bank drafts.
Overall I like the company.

As I first time house buyer I desperately searched the market
for a good deal on the mortgage I would need. I friend of
mine had signed a tie-in period with his mortgage lender and
it cost him over £2000 to leave the company. So this
was one essential thing I didn't want. My mortgage would need
to be around £120,000 for my new house, due to a few
past debts my bank would only offer me £90,000. I few
other companies would lend me the full £120,000, but
I did not like the terms of any of these. Finally I came across
the Intelligent Finance website which was a joy to browse.
This site is seriously helpful and explains things fully unlike
most financial sites. After phoning them I was over the moon
to later hear that they would lend me up to £150,000.
This was easily more than enough for what I needed. The 'smart
mortgage' I has two very attractive features, firstly it allows
you to pay extra into the mortgage and thereby reduce your
debt quicker. And secondly the money you currently have in
their current account offsets the amount of the mortgage loan.
Must be the best mortgage company on the web, it has attractive
deals with low rates, a cash back offer and no tie-in period.
Top marks :)
