IBM are one the leading developers of computer solutions for large and small companies. At IBM they strive to lead in the creation, development and manufacture of the industry's most advanced information technologies, including computer systems, software, networking systems, storage devices and microelectronics.
IBM were founded in 1911 and have since become one of the World's major manufacturers of mainframe and personal computers. IBM is short for "International Business Machines" and it's nickname is "Big Blue". Present day IBM concentrate more on large business computer systems and solutions than personal computers. One reason for this was IBM's underestimation of companies such as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and Compaq and lost it's position as the major player in personal computer in the late 1980's.

IBM Thinkpad 380ED
The Thinkpad 380ED is an extremely sturdy and tough Laptop, it's a little bulky for those looking for a mobile thin and light unit. I like to call it the tank, and it really works like one also. It never produces any errors or crashes. I am sure you could drop this machine from any height and it would survive. The display is also another plus, I like it more than my desktop tft displays. If you use a laptop primarily for email, wp,and network interfacing then the 380ED will do everything you need. I would definetely recommend this to anyone looking for a laptop which is tough and reliable , and is a very good starter laptop.
