Gucci, or the House of Gucci, was founded by Guccio Gucci (1881-1953) in Florence in 1921. Gucci first started designing clothes in 1921 with a small luggage and saddlery company in Florence Italy. Later in 1938, Gucci expanded into Rome. There first major breakthrough came in 1947 with the bamboo handle handbag, which is still their best seller. Gucio died in 1953, but his son Aldo took over and led the company to international prominence. The company went truely international with stores in London, Paris and New York. Even though the company was performing well, familt problems started, with disputes over inheritance, stocks, and the running of the company. These problems have continued to the present day. The lowest ebb for the company was probably in the mid-1980s when Aldo was convicted of tax evasion in the United States. This story was the front page for all the gossip magazines, though it did create publicity for Gucci.

Item - Gucci Jean Skirt

A bought this Gucci jean skirt which had 40 pounds off it at Yoox. The shirt itself is well made, is dark blue, has belt loops, an unlined interior and a contrast stitched detailing with logo details. I am size 12 and that's the largest size sold at Yoox so ladies who are size 14 or above may have trouble buying it from yoox. Yoox said its retail price is £140 and I bought it for £100 and I suppose for that price you would expect it to be well made and it is, but I am not sure whether it's worth the money so I can't really give it 5 stars. But if you aren't bothered by the money then it's one of the best jean skirts I've bought.

Gucci are maybe the most famous of all the designer brands, and their clothes / clothing are usually very expensive. The good thing with very expensive clothes is that you can sometimes find massive discounts and cheap prices for old stock, and imported stock meant for sale someplace else.
