Dolce was born on September 13, 1958, in Polizzi Generosa, Italy, and Gabbana was born on November 14, 1962, in Venice, Italy. They both own a trademark for their surnames. The brand is now easily recognizable thanks to its glamour and great versatility. In 1980, the duo met in Venice. They began to do freelance design in 1982, when they began doing business together in this period. It was in 1982 that the stylist Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana opened their first studio, and since then have opened numerous more the world over in cities such as London and New York. They state that their Brand positioning is created by Creativity, Fabrics, Manufacturing techniques, cuts and proportions, Greatest attention paid to details, Experimentation, Celebrities and Selected and qualified distribution. Their first store in the United States opened in March 1995, at "the Galleria" in Houston's fashion district. Dolce & Gabbana has now been organised into two central brands. 'D&G' and 'Dolce & Gabbana'.
