I have used D&A for the past 4-5 years for my contact lenses,
they have offered me a fast and friendly service with a good quality
eye test which you need separately for lenses. I think i've had
three eye tests with them and will definitely continue to use them.
On my last eye test I was late for an appointment but they quickly
fitted me in after someone else had their eye test. The test itself
is pretty much the standard you will find at any optician. But unlike
at some places I've tried the optician did talk and smile throughout
the test which was nice. They recommended to me to use either a
new set of lenses with protective coatings, but as I am a cheap
skate I decided to stick with my disposable ones. I hate the worry
of losing a more expensive pair of lenses also. I once left my £400
pair of glasses at a pub and never managed to get them back. Anyhow
I decided to use their site to purchase 6 months of disposable lenses,
and I have to say I was very disappointed. They seemed to have no
facility for ordering online for any product, all you could do was
book an eye test or phone them up using their number. Most of the
opticians I tried after D&A allowed me to enter my prescription
and easily order 3 months to 2 years worth of disposable lenses.
I think D&A have really missed the boat and need to start updating
their online business immediately. It's a real shame because in
my experience Dolland and Aitchison high street opticians are the
best for eye tests and service standard. I guess online it's worth
shopping around for another option.
