HP Compaq Presario 1200 Laptop

This is the first laptop computer I've owned. For four years it kept going after a horrible amount of abuse I've put this poor thing through. The only worst thing i've found with it was that the Hard Drive was usually slow to boot, no matter what operating system i installed, 98, ME, XP, or Linux. If the hard drive slowly died on it, you need a specialist to replace the HD or motherboard, at this point I do not feel it is worth keeping. The cost of the work does not make sense. Another downside with the 1200 is the lack of an ethernet port, however, overall I am glad I bought the machine.

Compaq model - Presario 2100

I would give it 4/5 the only problem is the mains cable. The laptop is 2 1/2 years old and on its 2nd set of cables which are already starting to fail so the screen flickers constantly as the laptop switches to battery and back. They run very hot and the jackplug gets hot enough to burn. £40 for replacement cables is unreasonable.

Compaq Presario 1525

This laptop should be ideal for any small business or corporate use, where laptops are the mainstay for work while on business travel. Compaq has added in a roomy 30Gb hard disk drive plus a DVD-ROM, CD-RW combo drive to give you plenty of storage options. You also get a Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz Processor, 256Mb RAM, 15" TFT Screen and Up to 2.5Hrs Li-Ion Battery. Overall the machine seems pretty quick, but falls short of similar spec desktop computers from Compaq, which is probably the hard drive simply not being as fast as a desktop machine. For it’s power, the Presario machine is a reasonable size and a pretty good weight. It also has Microsoft Windows XP which is the next version of the Windows operating system, which is built on the solid foundation of Windows 2000. Overall a pretty good machine from Compaq.
