HP Compaq Presario 1200 Laptop

This is the first laptop computer I've ever owned. For over four years it kept going after a horrible amount of abuse I put this poor thing through. The only bad thing i found with it was the Hard Drive was usually slow to boot in all the operating system i installed, like 98, ME, XP, or Linux. And it was the hard drive that slowly died on it, because you need a specialist to replace the HD or motherboard I felt it wasn't worth keeping. The cost of the work is just not worth it. Another downside with the 1200 is the lack of an ethernet port, however overall I am very glad I bought this machine.

Compaq model - Presario 2100

The laptop itself is great and I would give it 4/5 but the real problem is the mains cable. The laptop is 2 1/2 years old and on its 2nd set of cables which are already starting to fail so the screen flickers constantly as the laptop switches to battery and back. They run very hot and the jackplug gets hot enough to vburn. At £40 for replacement cables I certainly would not buy this make again
