Description - A coat is an item of clothing that is worn on top
of every other piece of clothing.

The coat is an outer garment worn by both sexes, for warmth in the winter months. Coats are therefore usually made of thicker material than jackets. Jackets are usually worn all year in moderate whether conditions, whereas a coat if for more extreme cold whether. In design a coat typically have long sleeves and are open down the middle of the front. They can usually be closed by means of a zipper, buttons or a belt.
Styles of coats,
- Anorak - hooded coat that is water proof.
- Duffle coat - made of thick wool, fastened with toggles.
- Opera coat - ankle length women's coat often made from velvet. Often
worn with an evening gown, and expensive.
- Overcoat - tailored material that is worn over a man's suit or ladies dress.
- Pea coat - heavy wool double breasted coat worn by sailors.
- Raincoat - a water-resistant coat, sometimes referred to as a mac.
- Trench coat - first designed as a military coat by Burberry.
