I have owned a barclaycard for as long as I have a credit
card (nearly 20 years). As you can well imagine I have therefore
spent a great deal of money using my Barclaycard. The reason
I went with Barclaycard is they were my Bank, not for reasons
like the Interest rate which is probably not the best around.
Over the years I have had both Mastercard and Visa card from
them, and also a Gold and Plantium card. I have always paid
it off monthly, so have never needed an extended credit, and
all this has helped minimise any interest payments I would
have paid. Barclaycard has over the years had plenty of useful
loyalty schemes with free gifts for the using the card X number
of times. I have always taken advantage of these, which has
included free wine, cinema tickets, leisure vouchers or just
free meal tickets for chain stores like Pizza Hut and Brewer's
Fayre pubs. But recently I have been solely disappointed because
Barclays has decided to drop almost all of the free offers.
These free offers were one of the few perks of staying with
Barclaycard in an increasingly competitive market. With all
the lower interest rates around I am very tempted to jump
ship after a long partnership. Barclays should remember that
customer loyalty only goes so far.

I first signed up with Barclays as a student and received
their student Barclaycard about four years ago. As a poor
student I had a low credit limit of £350, I have paid
all my necessities on my Barclaycard and of course tried my
best pay it off in full at the end of each month so to avoid
the interest rates. There are some good advantages of using
a Barclaycard, when I have bought electrical goods I've phoned
Barclays and then received a free extra years warranty. And
I recently phoned Barclaycard for a car insurance quote and
got a £70 discount. The staff are always efficient and
helpful either in-store or on the phone when you ring them
up. The rewards points are a plus, and the other advantages
are all available on their web page www.barclaycard.co.uk.
