Reviews Posted on 23 / 04 / 2006 I am a
regular shopper at Asda because it is the lowest priced and (in my opinion) the
best supermarket for service in our area. Things seem to have improved since they
had new management from Wal-mart. The prices were always low but they are now
very cheap, they have polite staff who are well trained and know where everything
is and they have almost everything in stock. When I have shopped at Sainsbury's
there always seems to be empty selves. And there is always something I want they
have not got in stock. They never seem to have any bread after tea time, and a
lack of their "luxury" items, which seem to sell out rather quickly.
Asda's fruit and vegetable stands are also good quality as well, again
it is much better than other local supermarkets like Somerfields, where it looks
as if it's been left there for weeks. The Asda near us after the Wal-Mart
takeover also changed and is now open 24 hours a day. This is a godsend for us,
as my husband is a long distance lorry driver, and my shift times vary greatly.
It means we no longer have to plan around over weekly shop, we now have the luxury
of choosing when we do our weekly shop. Admittedly it may not suit the shop assistants
at Asda, but being able to shopping at 11 o clock at night is a joy, it's quiet,
it's quick and there is little stress. Petrol from Asda is also the lowest
locally, and we can earn points to go towards an £5 Asda Voucher, this reward
scheme works out much better tha out local BP garage. Asda comes up trumps
everytime. User Rating -
Shelly Posted on 25 / 04 / 2007 Purchased prescription reading
glasses from ASDA opticians on recommendation of the salesman. They weren't needed
and when I collected the spectacles they were no better than the distance glasses
I currently use. I asked for my money back but was refused. On several occasions
I asked instore in person and on the telephone but even the store manager was
adamant that I would not get my money back. I complained to head office by email
and got no reply. I rang head office and they responded with a call back to say
that i could not have a refund. This was despite the website saying quite clearly
that they had a no quibble 28 day refund. After contacting Trading Standards I
put the complaint in writing as recommended by Trading Standards and, low and
behold I received a telephone call from the opticians to say I could have a refund.
ASDA have very poor customer service, ignore their policies and if I had not stuck
to my guns they would not have abided by their own policy on refunds. So if you
think you are in the right keep trying. User Rating -

Posted on 05 / 09 / 2008 I am a disabled driver unable to walk very far,
yet i can rarely obtain a disabled parking bay due to able bodied people parking
in the disabled parking bays because they cant be bothered to walk. this only
appears to be the case at the colne store, opther asda stores i have visited
in Burnley, Liverpool and Manchester are robustly patrolled and parking tickets
issued to offenders, so despite warning signs around the disabled and mother and
child bays, no tickets are ever issued and i dont believe it is monitored, WHY
IS THIS?????, IS COLNE DIFFERENT. User Rating -

i use the asda store at colne in lancashire, the colne
store is the only asda store i have been to where i have serious
parking problems.
i am severly disabled yet struggle to find a disabled parking bay
because able bodied people park in the disabled bays.
there are warning signs from a company called town and country car
parking, but it is NOT patrolled.
i spoke to store management and to town and country, niether showed
any interest in my complaint so nowseveral other people in my position
and myself tend to use morrisons superarket in nelson where the
disabled parking bays are patrolled an £60.00 fines are issued
to offenders.
