Good quality luggage. I've had a soft antler bag handed down to me from my parents. It's looks a little dated now, in a seventies green canvas. But apart from the unfashionable appearance it's in perfect working order. No rips or tears, the zip still works without fault. I've recently been considering a new rollercase, and I assumed that if Antler still make cases like they did in the 70s, then I'd expect a new one to last thirty years. However, I've been disconcerted by some of the reviews I've read. For hard cases I've read that the material can be scuffed quickly and the tele-scopic handle, which you use to pull the case along are flimsy. My question is, are Antler still the quality brand they were?
The problem with review sites in general is that people's who bought a shoddy product are much more likely to vent their opinion. I've been saving up for a new case and I will think about buying an Antler. Samsonite is my first choice, my father has a couple of cases and they are solidly built and last. An important part of buying a new case is the warranty it comes with. The one concern I have with Samsonite is whether they will honour their warranty. Their cases are expensive and if I unluckily get handed a faulty one I do not want the manufacturer to wriggle out of their warranty. I've read of one complaint in this respect, and it may inpact on my decision of whether to buy Antler or Samsonite.
