I subscribed to AOL Silver package on the 5th of Sept 05, but was not
told the speed was only half a megabite. When I discovered that other companies
could offer 1 megabite for the same price, I canceled with AOL after on the 7th
Sept. I have since been waiting for the phone line to be freed and this has been
going on for 4 weeks now. What I would like is some explanation because I cannot
subscribe to any other company until the line is freed. I am really disappointed
at the service I got and would not recommend this service to anyone. I still would
like to know how long more now before the line is freed. I have called the AOL
support line several times and am always told that the line will be freed by Bt.
I rang BT and was told to get back to the service provider to complete the cancellation
process and I am still waiting for this to happen. Could someone get back to me
please. Thanks User - Doreen User Rating -
I upgraded to broadband with AOL around two years ago. It did basically
double my monthly Internet access costs but I also was able to play online games
and download files at an acceptable speed. It was something I was willing to pay
for. It was easy to apply for using the AOL connection software application and
they checked my BT phone line to see if broadband was available in my area. It
was ok for broadband and they sent out my installation kit with the ADSL bt voyager
modem and cables and cd's. It arrived within a week, but I also had to wait 2
weeks for AOL to do all the paperwork with BT and get me connected. It was all
sorted without a hitch and I have been using AOL all day everyday for two years
without a single problem. They may not be the fastest around, but they are fast
enough for me and first and foremost on my list of requirements are reliable and
connect you no matter how much you use it. User - Richard User
Rating - We have been with AOL
a long time and recently upgraded to their platinum service and have gone WiFi.
Unfortunately my username has been 'hijacked' and the 'hijacker' has been abusive
in chatrooms and sent nasty bulk e-mails according to AOL - who think its me doing
it and its not! For the last month we have spent the equivalent of our £29.99
monthly fee on telephone calls because AOL keep blocking our account and we have
to keep phoning to get things sorted. They won't let us change the registered
account username and they won't let us cancel the contract with them without charging
us the remaining 11 months on the broadband contract. We can get nowhere with
them - they (from abroad) answer like robots, are extremely difficult to understand
sometimes and totally unappreciative of the difficulties we find ourselves in
because of this. There is apparently no effort at finding the 'culprit hijacker'
- we just get inconvenienced and penalised every time. AOL your service sucks,
you may be the biggest but you are most definitely the worst ISP! User

the hell dont you just change your password? Err your user name stays the same
but as your password is changed then the hijacker cant use it! Think about your
comments before shouting! User - IssUK Write a Review
